Treatment Programs
Medical Detox
Detoxification is the body's first step toward recalibration, and it deserves careful medical attention. At MRS Addiction Treatment, our 3-to-7-day detox program takes place in a dedicated wing designed for minimal sensory stimulation. Board-certified physicians and registered nurses monitor patients around the clock, adjusting medications in real time to ease withdrawal discomfort from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, methamphetamine, and other substances.
We use medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when clinically indicated, including buprenorphine and other FDA-approved protocols. Every patient receives a personalized detox plan that accounts for medical history, substance type, duration of use, and co-occurring conditions. Our goal is not simply to clear the substance but to stabilize the whole person -- physically, mentally, and emotionally -- so they enter the next phase of treatment with clarity and strength.

Residential Treatment
Our residential program spans 30 to 90 days and provides full immersion in a structured therapeutic environment. Patients live on campus in comfortable accommodations with access to our walking trails, meditation garden, heated therapy pool, and farm-to-table kitchen. Treatment includes daily individual counseling, group therapy, family sessions, and specialized modalities such as CBT, DBT, and Somatic Experiencing.
The residential track is built around motivational enhancement -- our therapists work collaboratively with each patient to identify personal values, set meaningful goals, and build the internal drive that sustains recovery long after discharge. Nutritional psychiatry is integrated into daily life through curated meals and nutrition education groups led by our registered dietitian.

Outpatient Program
Our outpatient programs are designed for patients who have completed residential treatment or whose clinical assessment indicates they can maintain safety while living at home. We offer both Partial Hospitalization (PHP) running 2 to 4 weeks and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) spanning 8 to 12 weeks, with sessions scheduled during mornings, afternoons, or evenings to accommodate work and family commitments.
Outpatient patients receive the same evidence-based therapies available in residential care -- individual counseling, group therapy, family therapy, and motivational enhancement -- without the overnight stay. This flexibility allows residents of Monrovia, Arcadia, Duarte, Pasadena, and the broader San Gabriel Valley to access high-quality addiction treatment while remaining connected to their daily lives and support systems.

Dual Diagnosis
More than half of the patients who arrive at MRS are living with both a substance use disorder and a co-occurring mental health condition such as depression, generalized anxiety, bipolar disorder, or PTSD. Our dual diagnosis program provides integrated treatment that addresses both conditions at the same time, because treating one while ignoring the other leads to incomplete healing and higher relapse risk.
Treatment includes psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and specialized therapeutic modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Somatic Experiencing for trauma processing. Our behavioral health team collaborates closely with addiction counselors to ensure every aspect of a patient's mental health is accounted for in their individualized care plan.
